Scholarships and Bursaries

Non-local Internships

The Faculty offers scholarships and bursaries to students who will participate in non-local internships in the summer semester. The followings are the selection criteria of the scholarships and bursaries. Details will be provided to eligible students via email when the application for the following schemes are open in around May/June.

Scholarships
  • Students of the BASc, BPsych, BSocSc, BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB, BSW, BJ and BEd&BSocSc curricula
  • Students who have not previously received the Serena Yang Award
  • Students attain a cumulative GPA (CGPA) 3.2 or above as of first semester of the current academic year
  • Interview may be required

Bursaries

Eligibilities:

  • Students of the BASc, BPsych, BSocSc, BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB, BSW, BJ and BEd&BSocSc curricula
  • Students who have not previously received any bursary from the HKU Pioneer Class of 1967 Fund
  • Students attain a cumulative GPA (CGPA) lower than 3.2 as of first semester of the current academic year
  • Bursaries will be provided on a need basis
  • Interview may be required

Important Notes:

  • Students can only apply for either one of the above schemes
  • The scholarship/bursaries schemes offer a notional amount of award for students’ participation of non-local internships in summer. Students should not consider it a major financial source.
  • Late applications under normal circumstances will not be considered

Ā Outbound Exchange Programmes

There are a limited number of scholarships and sponsorship opportunities to provide financial assistance to students. TheĀ International Affairs Office (IAO)Ā will assign an appropriate scholarship to studentsĀ according to your financial needs and academic standing once you have met the conditions and have been accepted to the host institution. For details, please checkĀ the IAO website.
