3. Student-initiated Pathway

Many of our students proactively seek internship opportunities. Here’s how it works if a student contacts you:

  • A Year 2–4 HKU Social Sciences student will reach out, expressing genuine interest in your organisation’s work.
  • They will propose a concrete project designed to add value to your team, or apply for an available internship role in your organisation.
  • If interested, you simply confirm the placement details and nominate a supervisor. No formal contract or fee is required from your organisation.
  • Our Experiential Learning Team will then contact the nominated supervisor to finalise administrative arrangements.
The expectations of Community Partner in its role as co-educator are as follows:
Conduct final assessment on the interns’ performance
Be relevant to skills and knowledge of the disciplines of Social Sciences
Provide meaningful and challenging task to raise students’ awareness of social issues
No direct profit-making or sales-related tasks
Provide coaching on personal and professional development, on-going supervision on completion of tasks
