Application for Term-Time Internship 2022-23
The Term-Time Internship for the 2022-23 academic year is now open for application. This year we have 57 Community Partners with 77 projects / topics offering 179 placement opportunities for students. Apart from local internships for students’ fulfilment of Social Innovation requirement, the Faculty will also offer some ‘Global Citizenship at Home’ (‘GC@Home’) placements which students can opt to fulfil the Global Citizenship requirement.
Application Period: June 1 (6pm) – June 8 (12noon), 2022
Internship Period: September 26, 2022 – April 7, 2023 (One full day or two half-days per week)
Application Procedures
- View the background information of Community Partners and placement descriptions of the Term-time Internship on the Experiential Learning Application System.
- Select ONE placement choice and submit your application via the Experiential Learning Application System with personal statement and CV within the application period.
- Stay alert to phone calls and emails as Community Partners may approach applicable candidates for interviews.
- Check the application result via Experiential Learning Application System on the result release date of each round.
- Add new choice for the next round if your application is unsuccessful.
Special Arrangement under COVID-19
To facilitate students in meeting their graduation requirements under COVID-19 pandemic, ‘GC@Home’ placements will only open to Social Sciences students in their third year of study or above in the academic year 2022-23 who have not yet fulfilled GC requirement in the first round of application.

Important Regulations
Before your application submission, please note the following important regulations about internship application:
- non-acceptance of internship offers will be penalised and your entire application will be withdrawn. Your next application for internship placement will only be processed from the second round in that exercise;
- once you have accepted the internship offer, your withdrawal or incompletion of the internship shall result in FAILURE of the internship course;
- students are not allowed to take courses over the maximum study load of 72 credits in one academic year. In this connection, you are reminded to reserve 12 credits for Social Innovation / Global Citizenship Internship in the 2022-2023 academic year; and
- students can only enrol the course FOSS2018, FOSS2019 and FOSS2022 once throughout the study at HKU. The Faculty will withdraw your application without prior notice if found otherwise

Online Individual Consultation Sessions will be arranged by the Experiential Learning Team. Students are welcome to join if you need any advice on preparing your internship application.
