「究竟自閉特色奇特,定奇怪嘅其實係我哋?」

上述坊間可能出現的種種誤解,或會令自閉特色人士難於融入學校及社會。自閉特色兒童常被稱為“來自星星的孩子”,因為他們神秘又難以捉摸 ,像天上的星星一樣,與人溝通交流、行為、想法等方面,都好像有著自己一套奇妙想法。即使如此,是否又等於他們是有別的一群呢?

當然,不一樣不代表誰不正常,也不代表誰有錯。

育有自閉特色兒童的一對美國夫婦,以自閉特色人士的角度及視點創作了《不一樣沒關係,我們還是好朋友》繪本 (原名《Why Johnny Doesn’t Flap / NT is OK!》),以傳遞包容及接受差異的訊息。

繪本中的主角是位自閉特色兒童,常因其好朋友 (非自閉特色人士) 的舉動作出種種疑問:

  • 為什麼他不會一字不漏地背出節目字幕?(因為主角做事常常要求精準)
  • 為什麼他遇到開心的事情,不會拍手或手舞足動?(因為主角傾向直接表達情緒反應)
  • 為什麼他下課後要跟朋友一起玩,而不能自己一個人靜下來?(因為主角通常會習慣靜下來)

即使朋友在主角眼中有多 “不像自己”,但他總是說「…但是沒關係,我們照樣玩得很開心;我喜歡他,就算他不像我一樣也沒關係!」
