Chinese Writing Package for Students with ASD (Primary Schools)
《 賽馬會喜伴同行計劃 自閉特色學生中文寫作教材套 (高小版) 》
(Conducted in Cantonese)
Abstract:
This is the first local evidence-based package to address the writing characteristics of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in mainstream primary schools. A training package of 13 group sessions (with handy materials) is developed to improve students’ writing skills and motivation. The package adopts the self-regulated strategy development (SRSD) approach that emphasizes on the cognitive process in writing. In this symposium, the JC A-Connect (School Support) Team will introduce the rationale, core components, ASD-friendly teaching strategies and effectiveness of the training from our pilot study, as highlighted in the user’s guide of the package. NGO professionals will also share their frontline experiences in preparation, online adaptation, feedback skills, and home-school collaboration.
