JC A-Connect Movie Day

Children with ASD often face difficulties in social communication and emotional regulation. Therefore, their parents seldom bring them to public places for recreation. In light of this, JC A-Connect organised “JC A-Connect Movie Day” on July 13, 2024, inviting families with autistic children to watch the animated film “Inside Out 2” in the cinema. This event served as a great opportunity for the families to enjoy the movie without concerns of disturbing others and a chance to relax.

The selected film “Inside Out 2” was related to emotions and it was hoped that the participants would learn to accept themselves and others, thus fostering a more inclusive society. The event was hosted by Professor Paul Wong from the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong. In addition to introducing the concept of the event before the screening, Professor Wong also gave a post-movie analysis after the movie. Besides, we also had the honour of inviting renowned theatre director Ms. Olivia Yan and comedian Ms. Harriet Yeung (Hatou) to share their thoughts after the film. All children received souvenirs and had an overall rewarding experience.
