Internship Programme

To help establish the 20 ha FDP in Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, an internship programme is offered to a pool of determined and enthusiastic tertiary students who wish to learn and undertake forest research including tasks such as conducting tree survey and processing the data collected.  After completing the internship programme, the interns will be able to plan and conduct a tree survey in an FDP, experience how to manage a large database, acquire the basic skills in plant identification and identify the common and widespread tree species in Hong Kong.

Second Round of Internship Programme (2013-2014)
A new batch of the internship programme (2013-2014) was launched in October 2013. More than 120 students from 8 tertiary institutes attended the briefing session held on 12 October 2013. Over 100 students were successfully recruited for the programme.  Three one-day training sessions were organized on 6th, 14th and 26th November 2013 to help enhance students’ understanding of the project and equip them with skills on conducting tree survey in the plot.

The interns have to complete 120 hours of work during the internship period. As a token of appreciation and recognition, an award letter of acknowledgement will be given to the interns who have successfully completed the internship programme.
