MOEI was launched in Thailand in 2008. The first cohort was special. In Hugh Cory, we had an exceptional trainer. In many of our schools, we had outstanding experiences and built important friendships. In Mae Sot and the surrounding areas, we learnt as much as we taught.

MOEI returned to Thailand with a small group in 2008-09, and a large group in 2009. These experiences reinforced our commitment to teaching on the Thai-Burma border, which remains the spiritual home of the MOEI programme.

It was no possible to run an official MOEI Thailand programme in 2010 because of Red Shirt protests in Bangkok and elsewhere. However, a small unofficial group nevertheless went to Mae Sot and taught in MOEI partner schools.
