The SIGC internship programme at HKU's Faculty of Social Sciences aims to nurture future-ready "Socientists", by expanding academic horizons and connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application.

If you are new to internships, Internship Week 2026 is here to help! There are many internship options available in Summer 2026. Workshops and consultations are offered to provide valuable insights into the growing importance of Social Sciences skills and knowledge in various industries. It is also about exploring the future of work and equipping you beyond immediate job readiness:

Job-Readiness:

It typically refers to having the necessary skills, knowledge, and qualifications to enter a specific job or task in certain career. It focuses on immediate job readiness and the ability to perform effectively in a chosen task and profession.

Internship-Readiness

It means having the skills and mindset to actively learn, contribute, and gain long-term value from an internship. It bridges the gap between being prepared for a job now and adapting to future career changes. An internship-ready student understands their workplace, builds relationships, seeks feedback, reflects on experiences, and uses the opportunity to grow professionally.

Future-Readiness:

It goes beyond immediate job readiness and emphasizes being prepared for the evolving nature of work and the challenges of a rapidly changing world. It involves developing a broader skill set to navigate the uncertainty and quickly adapt to new roles and industries in the face of emerging trends and disruptions brought by socio-technological advancement. It includes adaptability, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills.

Seize the chance and unlock a world of opportunities!
