Introduction

The Social Sciences Summer Programme, "Riches and Poverty", is designed for participants to explore this phenomenon from socio, political and psychological perspectives. The investigation process consists of interactive forums, lectures, field trips, team projects and presentation of findings.Through the academic forums and lectures organized by Departments of Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work and Social Administration, participants will be stimulated and encouraged to learn more about the underlying causes and impact of wealth and poverty; they will be inspired to develop their own views on this momentous social issue.

Field trips to Prisons, Cage Homes, ICAC and Afternoon Tea under a posh environment will further broaden the participantsˇ¦ horizon. By the last day of the Programme, students are required to complete a group project and to present their work in any format at an open forum, of which parents and teachers are welcome to attend.

The High Table Dinner, a highlight of the Programme, will be a memorable gathering for participants, their parents/families and special guests to share this formal University tradition.Hall nights will also be organized by current Social Sciences students supported by the Social Sciences Society.

Students will be divided into groups and each group will be mentored by two selected and well-trained current Social Sciences students, and each student will be awarded a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the Programme.
