Professor Anne-Marie Slaughter

Anne-Marie Slaughter is Dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the Bert G. Kerstetter '66 University Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. She is the author of A New World Order (Princeton, 2004) and The Idea that is America: Keeping Faith with Our Values in a Dangerous World (Basic, 2007). She is also the Co-Director, with Professor John Ikenberry, of the Princeton Project on National Security and co-author of its final report, Forging a World of Liberty under Law: American National Security in the 21st Century. She writes and lectures widely on American foreign and national security policy, international law, and global governance in both scholarly and popular journals and is a frequent commentator on foreign affairs in newspapers, radio, television, and on the Internet. Educated at Princeton, Harvard, and Oxford in both law and international relations. Dean Slaughter was the J. Sinclair Armstrong Professor of International, Foreign and Comparative Law and the Director of Graduate and International Legal Studies at Harvard Law School from 1994-2002. She served as the President of the American Society of International Law from 2002-2004 and was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2002. She currently sits on the boards of the Council on Foreign Relations, the New America Foundation, and the Center for International Governance Innovation, among others, and has served on several national commissions.
