John P. Burns is Chair Professor of Politics and Public Administration and specializes in the study of public administration in China, especially civil service reform and party-government relations. His recent projects have examined policy coordination in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei in the management of infectious disease (e.g., SARS), food safety, and land management. He has also carried out research on the relationship between politicians and bureaucrats in the policy making process in Hong Kong.
