Summer School

Methods Hub Summer School in Research Methods

The Methods Hub ran a fee-paying summer school in quantitative research methods, led by Dr. Pamela Campanelli (The Survey Coach – Survey Research Training and Consultancy), and qualitative research methods, led by Dr. Lea Sgier (Département de science politique et relations internationales – UNIGE). Each workshop ran for a week, and a total of 17 students attended the workshops.

HKUSI Summer Schools

The SSRC organized a fee-paying, two-week summer school in 2023 and 2024 on the topic of “Data Analysis Skills for Comparative Social Research” in conjunction with the HKU Summer Institute (HKUSI). The learning objectives of the summer schools were:

  1. To understand state-of-the-art theories and methods to identify and solve social issues.
  2. To conduct high-quality original surveys to collect primary data.
  3. To undertake quantitative analysis using primary and secondary data.
  4. To apply comparative and quantitative research to problem-solving.

Around 47-48 undergraduate students attended the workshops each year, largely from mainland China, and were awarded a certificate of completion.
