During this summer, we are offering more than 400 internship opportunities in Hong Kong and various locations around the world. Our internships are available with over 150 Community Partners. You will have the chance to participate in non-local internships in Australia, Canada, Japan, Chinese Mainland, New Zealand, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
We recognise that choosing an internship involves multiple factors. While there may not be a perfect internship, you can find one that aligns well with your interests, career goals, skills, language requirements, and experience. and Non-local Internships 
Placement-based internships offer students off-campus, work-integrated learning opportunities to work at local or non-local* organisations, including NGOs, social enterprises, think-tanks, startups, business corporations etc., in a variety of posts and on topics ranging from education, sustainability, communication to policy research and community services. Explore a wide range of non-local internship options if you wish to engage in valuable cross-cultural interactions, and explore global issues while gaining foreign workplace experiences.
Research Internships
In the summer of 2025, students with a keen interest in research are welcome to apply for placements at the research institutes under the Research Internship programme. The Programme aims to offer students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on research projects, enhance their research capacities, and develop their research portfolios with our global network of research institutes. Students may refer to the Experiential Learning Application System for placement opportunities under the Research Internship Programme
The GC@Home programme provides a pathway for students to achieve global learning via internship placement in Hong Kong. Students have the opportunity to work with international NGOs and/or local partners in Hong Kong to address global issues, such as migrant workers, refugees, global poverty, and ethnic minorities, with local engagement.
*Orientation Week: Participate in workshops at Sun Yat-sen University for foundational insights into social innovation and GBA’s diverse development. Visit top social impact organizations in GBA.
GloCal Projects provide project-based/cross-disciplinary learning opportunities to work with international NGOs and/or local Community Partners addressing global issues with local engagement. In the past, we worked on issues such as human trafficking in Nepal, fair trade issues with tea pluckers in Sri Lanka and coffee farmers in Indonesia, and quality education issues in Vietnam by building libraries, swimming pools, toilets and classrooms in the rural areas. In the summer of 2025, we will work with schools in Vietnam and Nepal to engage with the local community by conducting needs assessments and offering quality education programmes.
