Course Details Updates in response to the new GenAI Policy

As requested by the VP(T&L)’s Office, all course coordinators will need to consider possible ways of embracing GenAI in assessment (as well as pedagogy). Teachers should determine which assessment tasks are especially vulnerable to GenAI (e.g., text-based tasks conducted outside of proctored examination conditions) and reconsider using such traditional forms of assessments in their courses. Details of the policy endorsed by the Senate can be viewed here (with HKU portal login).

Course revisions of Common Core Courses will be handled by the Common Core Curriculum Committee.

^ According to the “Delivering for Our Students Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Strategy 2021-28” circular from the VP(T&L)’s Office, it is proposed that in all courses no single element account for more than 50% of overall course assessment to ensure diversity. The examination ratio should not be more than 50% in this connection.

# Examples include device-free examinations, oral examinations, live classwork (such as demonstrations and presentations) and student peer assessment (extracted from paragraph 35 of the GenAI Policy).
