Advanced Standing Application (2026-27 academic year)

Please note that this application and link will be activated from mid-August to mid-September 2026 for the 2026-27 intake.

Please note that the exemption is only granted toward Year 1 students only. If students choose to not apply for the advanced standing, they MUST take the courses like other students. Late application will NOT be allowed.

For 2026-27 admitted Social Sciences students, please note that to be eligible for Advanced Standing, you are required to submit school report(s) or relevant document certified by your school to indicate your successful completion of seven years of secondary education in the academic year 2025/26 together with the GCE A-Level grades of 2A*1A or above in best three subjects, excluding English language and Chinese language subjects, or an IB score of 36 out of 45 or higher.

Both the 7 years of secondary schooling and GCE Alevel/IB result are equally important. Please submit all the documents carefully. Please note that elementary and primary school does not counted toward secondary level.

In the usual circumstance, “one academic year” refers to the period of September to June (around 10 months). The supporting document and the information provided below should be aligned.

The 30 credits of advanced standing are made up of 12 credits of unspecified electives, and 18 UG5 credits (6 credits of Chinese language enhancement course, and 12 credits of the Common Core).
