JC PandA – Term-time Research Internship 2024/25 The application deadline for first semester internships has passed. Please note that late submissions may not be considered. Thank you. We are recruiting interns for the first and second semester of the academic year of 2024/25. The research interns will be involved in the Jockey Club “Peace and Awareness” Mindfulness Culture in Schools Initiative. This is research cum intervention project in school setting. We introduce mindfulness to primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. With the “train the trainers approach,” we teach school teachers how to integrate mindfulness programs into the social emotional learning curriculum in their schools. Interns may have opportunities to take 8-week mindfulness course with the school teachers and observe how mindfulness culture is developed in schools. Intern Selection: In general, interns should have proficiency in both English and Chinese. All the interns are expected to be responsible and independent research assistants. Preference will be given to the students in social sciences and have the passion to pursue graduate study or a career in psychology. They are required to attend bi-weekly project meetings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Intern Duties: Research interns will help with collecting and managing data. They will work closely with the educational psychologists of the team on tasks involving parents, children, teachers, and students. Working hours may vary from week to week depending on the progress of the project. Research interns will also be assigned on a group project designated by the team. Research interns’ performance will be evaluated by the supervisor on their work as research assistants (10 to 12 hours per week), participation in project meetings, quality of group project and internship report. Contact Information: Students who are interested in the internship, please complete the form below before July 31, 2024. We may invite short listed applicants for a meeting before making the final decision. Successful applicants will be informed in August 2024, before the semester starts.
