Bachelor of Social Sciences Curriculum Structure
(For candidates admitted in or after the 2010–11 and 2011-12 academic years)

The Bachelor of Social Sciences Curriculum (BSocSc) consists of a total of 180 credits over a period of three years of study.  At the end of the first year, you will declare a social science major from one of the five core departments including Geography, Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, and Sociology.  In addition, you can elect to pursue a second major or up to two minors offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences or other Faculties.

1Electives refer to total curriculum load (i.e. 180 for BSocSc) minus University requirements (i.e. 21) and primary major requirements (should normally not exceed 96 credits).  Electives are credits which can be used for a second major/minor within or outside the Faculty.

2Social sciences students who wish to have a second major or a minor in a social science discipline should enrol for the relevant introductory course through the 'Introductory Courses from Core Departments" category. If the introductory course(s) for the first major is (are) same as the second major or the minor, students are required to enrol the equivalent number of credits of advanced course(s) in that second major or minor.
