Introduction |
|
The HKU Social Sciences half-day virtual Triple S’s workshop introduces students to explore how to bring Social Inclusion to the society at-large while fostering Self-compassion, with the ultimate goal to enhance Sustainability development for common good, particularly during challenging times. The workshop provides an opportunity for students to explore diverse social sciences knowledge with case sharing by experts from various disciplines. Students will join interactive discussion session to develop an innovative idea that tackles challenges faced by the global society.
The case study, “Human Wellbeing and Globalization”, explores the modern socioeconomic development that has made the world increasingly connected, while also creating more complexities in our society. Bringing together perspectives from the Departments of Geography, Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, Sociology, and Journalism and Media Studies Centre, this workshop focuses on how human wellbeing is influenced by the globalizing society. For example, how is technology transforming human services? How can governments and non-governmental institutions collaboratively promote human wellbeing? How do we think and interact with each other? What factors affect our brain and behaviour? How do news and social media reshape our perspectives today?
Each group will be mentored by a current Social Sciences student to complete a topic discussion and group sharing.
