The visit focused on sharing the current development of both institutions and exploring opportunities to further strengthen collaborations, particularly in enhancing development vision on population and sustainable development research. <br><br>\n\nThe visit highlighted the solid foundation of the HKU-XJTU Joint Research Hub on Population and Sustainable Development (Joint Research Hub), a collaborative initiative launched in December 2023. This joint initiative centres on four key research areas, \u2018Population Development\u2019, \u2018Global Governance\u2019, \u2018Belt and Road Initiative Development\u2019, and \u2018Social Governance\u2019.  Talent acquisition and development are also emphasised as indispensable, with potential plans to further collaborate in nurturing future leaders and professionals. <br><br>\n\nLooking ahead, we are excited to announce preparations for the upcoming \u201cConference on Migration in East and Southeast Asia\u201d, jointly organised by the HKU Research Hub of Population Studies and the Joint Research Hub. This landmark collaboration between the Faculty of Social Sciences and the China Population and Development Research Center (CPDRC) aims to create synergy in addressing pressing national strategic priorities while laying a strong foundation for tackling global population development challenges.
