Introduction

Introduction

Quantitative data analysis research skills are an essential part of research in the social sciences. The Methods Hub in the Social Science Research Centre is organising a series of practical hands-on workshops for research students to get familiar with key statistical concepts using practical exercises developed on different statistical software packages. Students will have the chance to go through the practical exercises by themselves, and ask for help from the teacher when they get stuck or have questions.

In the first four Methods Hub Workshops, we aim to guide through the introduction to survey data using SPSS, we will be looking at both univariate and bivariate distributions for the first two workshops. Following which, we will also dive into the introduction of longitudinal data using SPSS. We will conclude by using Excel alternatively to analyze aggregate data. The goals are to provide you with the tools, methods and skills needed to answer data driven research questions you may have for your research agenda.
