Dr James Chin |

Dr Chin was born in Shanghai and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fudan University in 1981, an M.Phil. from Xiamen University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong. He has worked at the Southeast Asian Research Institute of Xiamen University, the Department of History at National University of Singapore and the Centre of Asian Studies at the University of Hong Kong, where he is currently a Research Assistant Professor. Dr Chin¡¦s research interests include historical relations between China and Southeast Asia, Chinese migration and diaspora, contemporary China-ASEAN relations, maritime history of Southeast Asia, and Chinese business networks and organizations in Southeast Asia. Dr Chin has published nine books and more than forty articles and essays in the field of Chinese Overseas and Southeast Asia, such as Power and Identity in the Chinese World Order (2003). |
