Submission Matters

Key Dates

Format of Presentation

  • Oral Presentation of Research Report, Scholarly paper or Practice Report (10-to 20- minute presentation, depending on the cluster)
  • Poster Presentation

 

Guidelines for Submission

The submission of an abstract implies your consent to have it published in the Abstract. All presenting authors of accepted abstracts are expected to attend the conference and register no later than January 31, 2014.

  • Abstracts should be submitted online.
  • Abstracts should be submitted in English.
  • The maximum number of words is 300 (250 words of Abstract Body + 50 words of Biography).
  • Authors may further edit and modify submitted abstracts until the submission deadline. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that their text does not contain typos or grammatical errors.
  • Authors have the option of choosing their presentation type (oral / poster / workshop/ symposium, panel discussion). However, the scientific program committee will make the final decision.

 

Abstract Topics

Topics for Oral & Poster presentations are open to all fields related to death, dying and bereavement. Authors have to indicate two topics(in priority) that are of the area of their presenting topic.

Best Abstract Award

Two best abstracts with outstanding academic and professional merits will be carefully selected from each theme. Winners will be awarded a prize equivalent to half of the registration fee paid by the submitter.

Interested parties may click here to apply through the conference online registration system.

Selection Procedures:

  • Submitter should indicate their wish to participate in the award scheme during abstract submission
  • Reviewer of the theme will endorse the abstract for the award scheme during the review process
  • The Best Abstract Selection Committee, formed by the theme coordinators and 2-3 reviewers, will make the final decisions basing on the assessment criteria.


Assessment Criteria:

Best abstracts of each theme will be assessed and selected by the following criteria:

  • Innovation
  • Contribution to Knowledge/Practice
  • Rigorous design

All awards are generously sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

 

Other Important Notes

  • For each first author, a maximum of 3 pieces of abstract are allowed.
  • Authors will be notified of acceptance via email by 30 November 2013. If you do not receive any notification by 30 November 2013, please email the Secretariat at info@icgb2014.org.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Program Book. Any editing will be restricted to spelling and formatting style only.
  • ORAL PRESENTATION: A 20-minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions and answers.
  • POSTER PRESENTATION: Guidelines for poster presentation will be given with the acceptance of an abstract for poster presentation.
  • EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP: Guidelines for experiential workshop will be given with the acceptance of an abstract for experiential workshop.
