About the Summit
The Asian Family Summit is a joint effort of the Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region (CIFA), the Faculty of Social Sciences of The University of Hong Kong, the Family Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and the Social Welfare Department of the HKSAR Government, with the theme of Sustainable Development & Family Well-Being: Agenda for Action in Asia. It is the first of its kind with the close collaboration among the public, private, academic/professional sectors and the civil society, to echo the 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development spearheaded by the United Nations. It is also a special occasion to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of CIFA as a regional platform to promote family well-being.
A Family Well-Being Expo will be held on 19 August 2018 preceding symposium of the Summit, to be open to the public as a fun day as well as educational, to heighten community awareness over family wellness.
Objectives of the Asian Family Summit
- To provide a platform for public, private, academic/professional sectors and the civil society to map out an agenda for action in Asia for the well-being of families which is closely related to the sustainable development of Asian societies
- To echo the international efforts in working on the 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development as promulgated by the United Nations
- To raise public awareness on the significance of family well-being and its relations with sustainable development
